Free Will is a God given right to each of us that enables us to make our own decisions. We are the masters of our destiny. This is God’s plan for mankind: we choose our own future. How? By faith, we either believe in God or in the world. We don’t have the power to enforce our choices on creation, but we do have the authority to determine our lives by our beliefs. We have God’s authority backed by his power to ensure our choices bring us our entitled corresponding reapings.
God’s creation is governed by His “sow to reap” principle as shown in Gal 6:7, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” This is the basic mechanism by which God’s creation works, cause and effect. Mankind’s science has proven this is the way God set up the three dimensional material world that our five senses reveal to us. This is the beginning of God’s plan for us.
There are three qualifications to the basic principle. They are Like Kind, Like Quantity and Like Attitude. The Like Kind qualification is shown in Gal 6:8, “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Simply put you can’t plant corn and harvest peas. You get what you plant. This is shown through DNA. God’s Word states that each type of spiritual seed yields its own corresponding spiritual harvest as well.
2 Cor 9:6, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” shows the qualification of Like Quantity sowing. Invest more earn more; invest less earn less. Luke 6:38 also says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” While 2 Cor 9:7 reveals the Like Attitude qualification, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” The attitude with which you sow will effect your reaping.
Sow to reap means that when we sow our faith in God by obeying His Word then we get to reap His blessings. Gal 5:22-23 reveals the reapings or fruit received, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance…” Many would welcome these rewards in their lives. The more of your life you invest in God’s Kingdom the more of God you will reap.
What are sowings? The Bible says sowings are our thoughts, speech and actions. The spiritual motivation is the key to Like Kind reapings. We sow to God by obedience to Him or to the world by disobedience of God. Matt 5:27-28 shows our thoughts to be sowing, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Titus 2:8 shows speech to be sowing with, “Sound speech, that cannot be condemned…” and in 1 Peter 3:10, “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:”. The Ten Commandments show both speech and action to be sowings that will be judged. Our choices are sowings and will bring their reapings into our lives.
Since our lives are based upon our choices, God’s judgment will be upon our sowings and therefore upon us. We choose Heaven or Hell; God enforces our choices upon even us.
