If you are a current student or you enroll as student before the trip you can earn 6 hours credit by attending this trip and by completing the following assignment and turning it in on or before April 30, 2019. Deposit of $350.00 is due at sign up, half of the balance ($1,800) due by December 4th and the remaining balance of $1,800.00 due by January 15.

1.  Keep a journal of each day of your trip.

2.  When you return from the trip type your journal following the  Student Guidelines for Writing Assignments.  Each day will be treated as one assignment so you should have 12 assignments.  Dr. Mike Daniels will be your Professor and the course number and name will be BIB417 Biblical Excursion for BA level Students, BIB517 Biblical Excursion - MA level Students, BIB617 Biblical Excursion - Ph.D. level Students.

General Tour Itinerary

 

Day 1: March 4th , 201 9 - Departure

You depart from the international airport, nearest to your city, on an overnight flight to Tel Aviv. Overnight: Dinner and breakfast will be served while on the flight.

 

Day 2: March 5th, 201 9 - Arrival

Afternoon/Evening arrival to Tel Aviv.

Upon arrival, the group will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Check-In and dinner accommodations in the hotel.

Overnight: Netanya or Tiberias, dependent on arrival time.

 

Day 3: March 6th , 201 9 - Caesarea/Haifa/Megiddo/Cana/Tiberias

Breakfast at the hotel.

Check-out of hotel [if not in Tiberias].

You begin your journey northward, by motor-coach, along the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea. This ancient city was built in honor of Caesar, by Herod the Great, and was the capital of the Romans in the Holy Land for nearly 500 years. You will see the Crusader City, and the fantastic aqueduct, before continuing to Haifa, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. View the Ba’hai Gardens, one of the holiest sites of the Ba’hai religion. Next, you will drive to the crest of Mount Carmel, through the Jezreel Valley, and arrive at the site of Megiddo. Megiddo is one of King Solomon’s “chariot cities” and is the location for the last battle in history, according to scripture.

Lunch will be en route.

See Gideon’s Brook, the “Well of Herod” and continue to Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home, where you will visit Mary’s Well, and the Church of Annunciation. Then to Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle of turning water into wine.

Continue to our hotel in Tiberias.

Day 4: March 7th , 201 9 - Mount of Beatitudes/Capernaum/Banias/Sea of Galilee/Jordan River

Breakfast at the hotel.

Visit the Mount of Beatitudes, traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount. Visit Tabgha, the

Chapel dedicated to the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. Continue on to the ruins at

Capernaum, then the synagogue and the house of Simon Peter. Cross the Sea of Galilee by a

boat similar to those used in Jesus’ days. You will end the day with a stop at the Jordan River,

where a baptismal service is possible.

Head back to the hotel.

Overnight: Tiberias hotel

 

Day 5: March 8th , 201 9 - Golan Heights/Beit Sh’an/Bethlehem

Breakfast at the hotel.

Check-out of hotel.

This morning, you will begin with a stop at Gergesa.

Then head south through Beit Sh’an, the Jordan Valley, past Shiloh and Bethel. Our trip takes us

“up into Jerusalem”: continuing on into Bethlehem. Visit the Church of Nativity, built over the

stable where Jesus was born, and the Church of Visitation. Take some time for shopping.

Head to the hotel.

Day 6: March 9th , 201 9 - Jerusalem [Old City]/St. Stephen’s Gate/Pool of Bethesda/Western Wall/Church of the Holy Sepulchre/ Tower of David/Garden Tomb/Garden of Gethsemane/Mount of Olives

Breakfast at the hotel.

The high point of our entire tour. Enter the Old City through the Damascus Gate, and begin a walking tour, which takes us through St. Stephens Gate, to the Pool of Bethesda, and Saint Anne’s Church. Continue to the temple area of Mount Moriah. Visit the Dome of the Rock area [entry to the mosque not included] and the Western Wall, also known as the “Wailing Wall,” which is the only remaining portion of the original temple built by Solomon. Walk through the Old City Bazaars to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. View the Tower of David, the Citadel, and King David’s Tomb. Visit the Jewish Quarter before leaving the Old City through Jaffa Gate. Visit Mount Zion and the Upper Room, then onto the Garden Tomb and Golgotha, place of the skull, where a worship service is possible. Our evening ends with a visit to the Garden of Gethsemane, and with a trip to the Mount of Olives for a spectacular view of the city.

Head back to the hotel.

Day 7: March 10th, 201 9 - Ancient Jericho/The Good Samaritan/The Dead Sea/ Qumran Caves/Masada

Breakfast at the hotel.

Begin the day with an early morning departure heading south from Jerusalem. See the ruins of ancient Jericho, stop at the Inn of the Good Samaritan, drive through the modern city of Jericho, and continue Masada. Ascend the muntain by cable car to the remarkable ruins of the fortress built by Herod the Great. From 70-73 AD, Jewish Zealots made their last stand against the Romans. Head to the Dead Sea [the lowest point on Earth], which is 1300 feet below sea level. Head to the hotel for dinner accommodations.

Day 8: March 11th, 201 9 – Jerusalem
Breakfast at the hotel.

Today you will have a full day of leisure to revisit favorite spots in Jerusalem. Explore some of

the recent excavations, or try your hand at bartering at the famous bazaars of the Old City!

Return back and dinner accommodations at the hotel.

Overnight: Jerusalem or Bethlehem hotel

 

Day 9: March 12th, 201 9 – Jerusalem
Breakfast at the hotel.

Free Day [dependent on what the group chooses to do]. You have the bus at your disposal!
