Neal Weaver - President

Bachelor of Arts, Master of Theology, Doctor of Theology – Eastern Baptist Institute

Beginning in 1961, Dr. Weaver pastored three churches over the next twenty-five years, the longest pastorate being in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the early 1980’s as president of Christian Schools of Ohio, he was instrumental in the rewriting of Ohio’s state minimum standards for all Christian schools. In 1984-88, as president of the Gospel Music Network of Dallas, Texas, he built the network from a mere six stations operating in one state into 120 stations throughout 20 states.

Since 1992, he has served as president of Louisiana Baptist University. During that time the university has grown from 100 students to over 1,000 in over 40 states and 20 foreign countries. As president of LBU he has spoken in some of the largest universities and churches in the world. He has twice spoken before the Korean Parliament and appeared on Korean national television. He has authored numerous articles and two books.



Sandra Cory - Executive Vice-President of Administration

Dr. Sandra Cory was employed by Louisiana Baptist University in 1989 as Executive Assistant to the President. In 1992, she was named Executive Director and in 1997, was promoted to the Office of Executive Vice-President of Administration. In that position she has worked in conjunction with the president in conducting all corporate business.

Dr. Cory has excelled as a creative and strategic planner with solid implementation skills. She is an effective consensus-builder dedicated to creating a teamwork environment. She has been instrumental in the development of numerous leadership and management courses and co-authored a book entitled “Building a Dynamic Christian Institution”.




Mark Crook - Associate Vice-President of Institutional Advancement

Dr. Mark Crook was saved at the age of 11 and called into the Gospel Ministry when he was 17 years old. He was licensed into the ministry in 1977 when he was 18 years old and ordained four years latter at the age of 22. For 32 years he has faithfully proclaimed the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching and singing.

Dr. Crook has been on staff at seven churches serving as Youth Minister, Music Minister, Education Minister, Associate Pastor and Pastor.

Dr. Crook started part time at Louisiana Baptist University in 1998 as the Assistant Dean of Bible. In 2000 he became the Dean of Psychology and Christian Counseling. In 2005, he resigned his Pastorate of ten years and became the full time Associate Vice President and Dean of Psychology and Christian Counseilng at Louisiana Baptist University




James Combs, D.Min., Lit.D. - Provost

Dr. Combs has been in the ministry for 60 years, beginning at the age of sixteen. As an evangelist and speaker on biblical prophecy, he has spoken in nearly one thousand churches.

Dr. Combs previously served as Editor of the “Baptist Bible Tribune", official publication of the Baptist Bible Fellowship, and as Editor-in-Chief of “National Liberty Journal". The author of several books and articles; he was also the managing editor of the recently published Tim LaHaye Prophecy Bible. Dr. Combs presently serves as Provost of Louisiana Baptist University and Theological Seminary.

Dr. Combs received his D.Min degree from Louisiana Baptist University and his Lett.D. from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. Dr. Combs is considered to be one of the leading scholars of prophetic studies. At the age of seventy-four he continues to be much in demand as a conference speaker and guest lecturer.
