Working with Louisiana Baptist University has been one of the most fruitful experiences of my ministry. As Director of a Bible Institute, I found it necessary to further my own Bible education. I found LBU to be sensitive to my demanding schedule, very credible in their credentials, and very reasonable financially. Working with the seasoned staff helped me both doctrinally and practically. It has been a blessing to glean from their ministry experience. The relationships formed with the staff and other students have been encouraging and edifying to me.
Because of my work with LBU, our undergraduate school has greatly benefited. In LBU, we now have a credible graduate school for our students to continue their education with.

I am so delighted to comment on my experiences while enrolled at LBU. I received a ThD degree in 2001 after delaying my education for years while absorbed in the gospel ministry. I am thankful that LBU provided me with the opportunity to pursue my education while in the pastorate.
In particular, I am well satisfied with the course work that was assigned to me, providing me with greater opportunity for directed study than is usually the case when a pastor is not enrolled in a degree program. Too often preachers focus their attention on favorite subjects to the detriment of a broader background that will prove beneficial in the future.
Though I have had dealings with several of the leaders at LBU, my most frequent contacts and dealings have been with Dr. Neal Weaver, who I greatly respect as an example of wisdom and mission purpose. He is a friend to me and I appreciate him as a friend to preachers everywhere.

"I appreciate the way that Louisiana Baptist University emphasizes life experience and Biblical achievement along with academic excellence. This is a wise balance that protects against the prideful humanistic thinking that is dominating the education of our day." Bill Gothard, Ph.D.

I was forty years old preparing for the arrival of my last newborn baby to arrive. I 'discovered' my life journey was leading to a long-sought answer "What am I here for?" I learned of Louisiana Baptist University from a friend who had earned his Christian Counseling degree from LBU. "But I'm too old to earn a degree," I said to myself. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The tuition was very affordable considering our family budget was being stretching with a growing family. And I learned I could study at my convenience. Some years later I earned my BA in Christian Counseling to enhance the practical experience and training I received as a grief counselor, a small group counselor and a survivor of life's abuses. As a wounded healer, LBU gave me the education I needed to bring hope to the lost, and help to the wounded. I want to earn my Master's degree within the next few years, write and continue to help people as a Church Counselor.
Thank you, Dr. Crook.

"I was thrilled with my doctoral program in Counseling and Psychology. It was relevant and helpful in my current career activities. I am thankful for the help that Dr. Crook gave me in the dissertation process, which now has turned into a published book."

I tried to finish my M.Div. degree with another well known institution of higher learning but the arrangements were not conducive to my schedule. A good friend of mine, who had positive things to say about LBU, urged me to contact them. I took his advice and the rest is history. I finished my M.Div. degree and was so impressed with the faculty and the arrangements that I also began and finished my D.Min. degree and graduated in May 2009. The advisors that I had were most helpful. While they prescribed the work to be done, there was a great deal of flexibility and options. My advisors let me work at my own pace but encouraged me all along the way. It was both affordable and manageable with my busy schedule in ministry.
My wife, Louise, is also working on her degree and will finish it, Lord willing, in the near future.
I would encourage anyone who wants a quality education but whose schedule unusually hectic and financial resources are limited to give it a try. You will find LBU ready and willing to help you accomplish your goals in undergraduate or graduate work.

Louisiana Baptist University was an excellent educational experience for me. The Christian educators and pastors I met mentored, and coached me to learn the Lord Jesus is the one who shows everyone how to become more than anyone of us can be by ourselves. I entered LBU at a time when I felt I was no longer young enough to complete a doctorate. It is amazing how the Lord opened the doors, once again in my life, with Christian educators who directed me to seek the Lord's plan. It is never too late to seek his purpose. All we have to do is just call on Him. He answers and He shows us mighty things we do not know (Jeremiah 33:3).

I received my Masters of Biblical Counseling from LBU. I liked the flexibility of the classes. One can take correspondence courses, direct study, online, and/or on campus classes. They also work with you so the classes you choose will benefit you in your current ministry. Many of the colleges/seminaries I looked into had very little flexibility. What I found at other institutions, the department head decides what a student needs, and then only offers a couple of electives. Louisiana Baptist University is affordable, and a payment plan can be arranged so that one does not have to take loans to pay for the education.

I am honored to be a graduate of LBU! I was blessed to be a student of this fine institution. There is a comfortable learning atmosphere. The instructors go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the students carry a quality education from the school. One of the most important things I carried away from LBU was a closer walk with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For that I am grateful and thankful. For all those who desire to enroll at Louisiana Baptist University you have the opportunity to gain needful biblical information to assist you in all ministerial endeavors. You can't put a price on the spiritual benefits you will receive from every classroom encounter. Therefore I say to LBU thank you for all that you have done to assist me in my spiritual growth. You have given me some additional tools to help me spread the Good news of the Gospel to the world. Grace and peace are multiplied through knowledge of God and of our Jesus our Lord. (2 Peter 1:2)

My decision to further my education with LBU turned out to be one of the best moves I’ve ever made. After years of disappointment over the available learning institutions to choose from, I was pleasantly surprised when a fellow-pastor in my area introduced me to the Distance Learning opportunities offered by LBU to fulltime pastors such as myself. As soon as I got started with my first degree, I knew that the Lord had sovereignly guided me to the right place.
All of my fellow-students warmly remember the late Dr. Roy Wallace. It would be impossible to calculate how much the Lord has used him and Dr. Bill Sheffield in my life. Similar testimonies may be given in regards to the rest of the staff at LBU as well. They’ve all become so dear to my wife and I that a visit to one of the commencement exercises feels more like a family reunion than anything else. We’ve also adopted what has now become an unbreakable habit of having one of them visit our church at least once a year. No superficial pretense can be found in this group of God’s servants; they’re all down-home folks who make everyone feel right at home.
As good as all this is, the main thing to boast about is the topnotch conservative learning experience one can receive at LBU. With so many “once-upon-a-time” conservative colleges out there, it’s like a breath of fresh air to know that there remains a strongly dispensational learning institution that is still holding forth the precious Light of God’s inerrant Word!

"I completed a PhD from LBU in 1993. My years of study for this degree were a blessed and happy time. The material was challenging, relevant, and helpful. The Faculty and Staff provided excellent assistance. The Lord has used this educational experience and degree to open several doors of opportunity for me over the years. Since receiving this degree, I have served for nearly sixteen years as the Director of Missions for a Southern Baptist Association of Churches, conducted revivals and Bible Conferences in over one-hundred different churches in Illinois and other states, and I was elected to serve as the President of the Illinois Baptist State Pastor's Conference. In addition to my position with the Association, I have also served for the last three years as the Pastor-Teacher of a truly wonderful and growing Church! I am thankful to God that He led me to LBU, and I highly recommend that anyone seeking advanced Biblical studies prayerfully consider furthering their education at this blessed place."

The Lord calls His people into the field, and He alone is able to equip them for His purpose. LBU didn't make me what God called me to be, but they did go the extra mile to see to it that I had every possible advantage they could offer to become that which I am called to be. I received my Bachelor's of Biblical Studies from LBU in May of '09. The diploma is proudly displayed in my office, but the experience is eternally etched in my heart. When a team of people rally behind you, while yielding themselves as a tool in the hand of almighty God, nothing can quite compare to the result. It's in an experience like this that we see what true discipleship is really all about. Selflessly working for the betterment of others for the greater good of their walk with Jesus. I look forward to getting my completing the Masters program.
God Bless,
Bro. Rubin Weaver

LBU was one of the "best of things" found in my life. LBU came along at a time in my life where I knew God was pointing me in another direction but I did not know how to get there nor where to start. While on my job, I came across a friend's work station and saw a study and workbook from Louisiana Baptist University. After speaking with this friend at length, I knew that this could very well be the "Where" I needed to go to get to the "Where" I was going with God. The staff and officers assisted in heading me in the direction of the heart-felt call in my life. LBU was where I was able to become exactly what God desired of me. The instructors took the time and care to lead and guide the students. In my book, a person cannot go wrong with LBU. Chalk it up as a "Life Experience" that one should not do without. I'm glad of what they where able to do for me in getting me where I know I am supposed to be: Pastor of Radiant Life Church in Keithville, La.

Jim and Pat Hutchens join together in expressing our thanks and appreciation for Louisiana Baptist University. We both have studied in several schools in this country and abroad, but have never received more encouragement and professional support within such a learning friendly environment.
LBU was and is way ahead of the curve in providing online Christian education. In the years to come, may God continue to bless LBU for Christ and His Kingdom.

I had graduated from Bible College in 1955 with a 3 year ThG because that is all that was offered at the time. I always wanted to do the work for a Bachelor's degree. There was never time as we were missionaries and could not come home to attend college.
In the Spring of 1998 I mentioned this to a friend (who just happened to be connected to Louisiana Baptist University). She gave me the information and I kept it a few months then decided I was going to do it and applied. In June of 1999 I would be 65 and decided I wanted to get that degree before turning 65.......I did !!
Then later in the year decided to go for the Master's and in 2000 completed that. I was finished. So I thought. My Primary Care doctor had been so supportive in my getting the degrees and asked wasn't I going to get the PhD............
Studying had become such a wonderful thing again that, yes, I actually did go for it. It was a time of such challenge and so many things I studied seemed to apply to me. In May or 2003, just before my 69th birthday I walked across the platform to receive my doctorate.
The entire series of studies (Christian Psychology and Counseling ) taught me so much about myself that I was greatly rewarded. Writing the final dissertation was a great challenge, but I missed it after it was finished.
I still miss studying like that and so appreciate times now when I can prepare for and teach lessons at church. We have retired and there are others who can do those jobs now, but sometimes I get the opportunity and love it.

LBU was the best part of my graduate degree experience. It met every need I had in a graduate program--location, convenience, control of coursework and most importantly--cost! I recommend LBU to everyone I meet who has an interest in getting a graduate degree--and almost every one of them has chosen LBU because they found it to be as perfect for them as I did for me. Thanks LBU!

When working on my MA and my MDiv through LBU and LBTS, I was so pleased and impressed with the level of support and individualized help I received. Dr. Wallace and Dr. Pettey were both so helpful, and worked hard to help me reach my academic goals. When I was led by the Lord to join the Guam National Guard as their only chaplain, I had just begun working on the required Master of Divinity degree. Dr. Pettey went above and beyond and pulled out all the stops to assist me in completing my degree in record time. I am very grateful to both LBU and LBTS for their excellence in educating young and older folks alike.

I earned my MA in Psychology Counseling from LBU in 2006, and Dr. Crook was so helpful in advising and monitoring me as I worked on my degree. I was amazed at the great support I received from him and others at LBU. I highly recommend LBU to any student looking for a career in Counseling or Psychology - a truly great school with caring professors and administrators.

I would recommend LBU to anyone who wants to earn a genuine degree online. I was hesitant, thinking this may be a "diploma mill" but in my case the coursework was so challenging that there was no doubt that someone put a lot of thought into this curriculum.
I guess "well-rounded" would be the right term. There were plenty of tangential resources which were like icing on the cake and stretched my thinking. We are praying that we can find a way to make these courses available to our people overseas on the mission field.

To the faculty and staff of LBU,
I want to express my appreciation for the work that you do and the sacrifices you make in providing many needed educational opportunities for those of us who could not attain it any other way. The distance learning program is a wonderful program way for many of us to further our Biblical studies. It has provided me with opportunities I could never have had otherwise.
The subject matter has been good and the work at times was intensive. It has allowed me to explore areas in a way I would not have, just in the process of being a pastor. I also have discovered new areas of interest through the process.
One area I was greatly encouraged by was the attitude and help the professors were willing to devote to the furtherance of my education. They were not as some “elite” are, but were down to earth with on purpose in mind and that was the benefit of the student.
I would recommend LBU to any who whishes to further their knowledge of the Bible and to deepen their understanding. It is not easy but it is very profitable.
Again I say thank you for the devotion to a wonderful work,
Pete Kiefhaber

I thank God every day in near groveling gratitude for the privilege of having done the work through LBU that has facilitated grasp and understanding and the concomitant reverence, awe and Holy wonder I possess today as a result of the desperate digging required for earning the degrees. I mourn every day at the lack of depth and religious literacy we have both in society and generally speaking in our churches regarding the wisdom and significance of our both God and His Word and we can see the societal consequences of that superficial nodding in the direction. Without the in-depth work I engaged in at LBU I would have remained clueless as well, but thanks be to LBU and to God Himself, I have the depth and substance and respect required for commitment, rather the conviction that engenders faith to the end and enables being able to explain the connections and significance clearly, in an understandable manner to anyone who is sincerely seeking to get it. The degrees fostered my gift of teaching, exposition and exegesis and further fueled the fire of my desire for life-long learning. I hope I am learning and growing in reverence until the day I gasp my last; my mother did - giving exposition on Deut. 6 and doing Hebrew and Greek word meanings on Friday night before she died on Saturday morning ~this time last year.
Blessings,
Dr. Mary Anne Dutton

"I was praising LBU to a college adjunct professor just today. They were looking for a cost effective, yet challenging way to get a doctorate. I shared that LBU was exactly that for me and they responded that sounded too good not to look into."

I praise God for convicting me to believe in his son as my personal savior. This was done through his grace alone. I realized that God extends his grace once again when I got the opportunity to study biblical study at LBU.
In Ethiopia there was no graduate program in theology and I was passionate to study theology and LBU was a blessing for me. It took me 8 yrs to complete the program and I learned staying in the program for a longer period of time was a blessing as completing it. My study at LBU helps me to take more responsibility at my local church. I am looking forward to continue my education for the PhD Program.

Working on my Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Biblical Studies, was truly a positive learning experience for me. The ministry God has called me into requires me to be on the road every week/weekend, ministering in churches all across this country. LBU made it very easy for me to complete my studies and degree from my home and to successfully graduate from LBU in 2005. The courses were challenging, appropriate and very beneficial for me. I can see that I have gained a significant amount of Scriptural knowledge because of LBU.
LBU has prepared me to be able to further expand my ministy. As a Gospel Singer, musician and evangelist, it is important to not only know the Word, but to be able to share it to others effectively and correctly. The courses that were part of my Biblical Studies program successfully helped me to accomplish these goals and more !! I highly recommend LBU to anyone who wants to take their ministry to "the top level" !!

The reason I am proud to write my testimony to the Louisiana Baptist University. Man can live a physical lifetime and never know the blessings of true religious training, care, and the real meaning of an invigorating spiritual training. One that is in addition to the academic truths that shape one’s thinking, but an impulse in the learning process that makes you know the materials taught to you, but also gain a spiritual reformation that allows one to feel the meaning of what has been taught to him or her. That is what this outstanding University has done for me—it has imbedded into my daily life the academics that give me basic and background information and reformed my spiritual life to know the impact of my learned information.

Learning is a life long process, but finding a place to study in the third world is difficult. LBU gave me the challenge, encouragement and opportunities to develop my skills towards my future goals, thus allowing me to overcome many barriers in my life. By achieving my BA in Biblical Studies by distance learning I fulfilled a dream and widened my horizons, now I am working on my MA in Christian Counseling with LBU.

I am very happy to tell you and the world that LBU was the fitting conclusion to an educational odyssey that included seven major state universities and teaching positions at three universities. Of all these experiences, LBU designed a program that best served my needs and the needs of my students. I use the knowledge and skills of my courses at LBU every day of my teaching.
I thank God for LBU and the faculty/teachers there who exemplify Christian Education and are the reason many of us excel in our profession. As an alumni of LBU, I want to help others to know and love LBU as I do.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mary Ann Malone

At a time when I was in need of both biblical scholarship AND a biblical scholar for personal guidance, LBTS was brought to mind from a long-ago memory. My childhood pastor was an early doctoral graduate and had mentioned the school in passing. With admiration for his esteemed character and academic excellence, I tucked away the referral for future plans. Two decades, several mission fields, and military spouse life later; the little school in Shreveport re-surfaced in my heart. Imagine my delight to learn that her influence had grown to reach around the globe and that the curriculum and format were perfectly tailored to a vagabond lifestyle. Tuition was the right fit with this missionary's pocketbook and off we went together-LBTS and I-for a grand adventure in Systematic Theology. Was it helpful to me and to others? You must ask the ministers, missionaries, military, and government leaders whom I shepherd under international "chaplaincy" care for their answers. For myself, a Doctor of Theology degree was the fulfillment of an unspoken desire. Only it did not complete the dream as I had imagined it would.
One degree fuels the hope for another, so hard on the heels of the old dream came a new one. But this time, LBU was the answer. Today, I am (momentarily) satisfied with the quality of instruction received for a PhD in Christian Counseling as my ministry expands further into our nation's capitol. Life-long learning is an absolute must in the Lord's service! Yes, LBTS and LBU may be considered as smaller and not-so-widely-known schools but here in the midst of "world think tanks" and "international powers", it is a Christo-centric, biblically-based education that is exactly what THIS doctor sees as the best medicine for national and global soul-care.
Many thanks to the visionary and faithful founders and current leaders of our school!

As a recent graduate of LBU, I can, with total confidence, recommend the Counseling Department staff. In the course of my studies, I attended no less than two colleges and two universities. Of those four educational bodies, LBU is the only one that I would recommend.
In short, they were found to be punctual in grading and returning work, prompt in responding to inquiries related to the work, and the work itself was practical and wholly applicable to the subject matter being discussed. LBU is exactly what it claims to be, a true BaptistUniversity.
